KARACHI, June 5:
The Jinnah University for Women (JUW) campus came alive with energy and celebration during the Prize Distribution Ceremony of JUW-ERITA 2025 – Category II, held at the M. Uzair Auditorium on Thursday, June 5th. The occasion, coinciding with Youm-e-Arfa in Makkah, became a day of dual spiritual and intellectual significance as it marked the accomplishments of JUW’s graduating incubatees and budding entrepreneurs.
The event was graced by Chancellor Mr. Wajeehuddin Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, Campus Incharge Mr. Razi Ahmed, respected Deans, and senior faculty members from all departments. In his speech, the Chancellor appreciated the dynamic efforts of students who participated in entrepreneurial and innovation-based activities and lauded the faculty and staff for their unwavering mentorship and support. The chancellor also breifly addressed the audience.

At the heart of JUW-ERITA’s success was Ms. Shadiah, whose remarkable organizational leadership made her the nerve center of the entire project. Her vision and tireless coordination were acknowledged by all as pivotal to the competition’s execution and impact.
The ceremony, organized by Team JUW-ERITA 2025, served as a platform to honor the jury members who evaluated student business ideas and to recognize the achievements of the winning teams. Faculty and students gathered to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit, and were encouraged to carry their ideas forward with courage and confidence.
Among the key contributors to the event’s planning and execution were:
- Ms. Faiza Qamar, for her leadership through JUBIC and her coordination of the ERITA platform.
- Ms. Sidra Razi, who played a dual role in managing ORIC and Admissions, ensuring smooth logistical execution.
- Mr. Rafe Razi, whose debut as organizer in ERITA was met with warm appreciation.
- Ms. Zil-e-Huma, who offered strategic support and mobilized departmental participation.
The session was eloquently conducted by Ms. Maheen of the English Department, who kept the proceedings engaging and well-paced.
🏆 Winning Teams and Projects
The highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of winning ideas:
- First Prize went to the youngest participating faculty — Allied Medical Sciences, for their invention of a machine to ease leg cramps using thorny rolling mechanisms. This project earned admiration from both internal and external examiners for its simplicity, practicality, and therapeutic innovation.
- Second Prize was awarded to the Faculty of Science, whose team designed a sustainable recycling process for used baby diapers, addressing both waste and health management concerns.
- Third Prize, also claimed by a team from the Faculty of Science, showcased their project named Shared Assets. A concept of barter trade via computer application win praise as third winning project.
🎖️ Recognitions
All jury members were presented with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their valuable contributions. The winning teams were honored with shields and applause from the audience, which included senior leadership and faculty mentors.
In the words of the organizing committee’s invitation, “Your presence and encouragement will mean a lot to the young entrepreneurs who are ready to take on the world with their innovative ideas.”
The event successfully highlighted JUW’s commitment to empowering students with entrepreneurial skills, academic mentorship, and real-world opportunities to transform their ideas into action. With educators like Ms. Shadiah, Ms. Faiza Qamar, Ms. Sidra Razi, and Ms. Zil-e-Huma leading the charge, JUW-ERITA 2025 reaffirmed that the future of innovation is bright — and it’s being shaped on campus today.
