KARACHI (Staff Reporter):** Jinnah Women University marked Pakistan’s Independence Day with patriotic fervor and a spirited event titled *”Ma’raka-e-Haq – Celebration of Freedom”*. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and a formal flag-hoisting ceremony, setting a solemn yet celebratory tone for the occasion.

Chancellor Wajeehuddin Ahmed, while addressing the audience, said that the purpose of the two-week-long *Ma’raka-e-Haq* celebrations is not only to highlight the importance of independence and the joy it brings, but also to commemorate the unity of the nation and the historic victory against Indian aggression made possible by the valor of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

He recalled the sacrifices made in the struggle for Pakistan, noting that his late father, Riazuddin Ahmed, had worked alongside Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the Pakistan Movement. “It was due to his services in the field of education that Quaid-e-Azam himself permitted the use of his name for the institution. Today, Jinnah Women University stands as a testament to that legacy,” he said, adding that future Independence Days will be celebrated with even greater enthusiasm.

The program featured colorful tableaus and stirring national songs presented by the students, which were met with loud applause.

On the occasion, Chancellor Wajeehuddin Ahmed, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Naeem Farooqi, and Controller of Examinations Raziuddin Ahmed presented a shield to the chief guest, Dr. Farooq Sattar.

In his speech, Dr. Farooq Sattar paid glowing tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan. He remarked, *“The entire nation salutes the unmatched sacrifices of our forces, who ensured a resounding victory in the Ma’raka-e-Haq. In May, when the enemy attempted aggression against Pakistan, our military and national security institutions gave a befitting response, winning the hearts of the Pakistani nation as well as the Muslim Ummah.”*

Dr. Sattar also lauded the contributions of Jinnah Women University, calling it Pakistan’s first women’s university, which has produced graduates who now hold prominent positions across the country.

The event concluded with renewed patriotic zeal, as students, faculty, and guests resolved to continue celebrating Independence Day as a symbol of unity, freedom, and national pride.

Cheif Guest Mr. Farooq Sattar and other speakers congratulated the event organizing committee led by Mrs. Sidra Razi and Mrs. Faiza Qamar for successful series of events spanning across wide array of activities ranging from BAIT-BAZI to Speech competetion, Drama performance to teablus and other cultural festivities.
