“Principal’s Quick Action Saves 900 Students in Swat
A timely decision by Principal Saeed Ahmad in Swat saved the lives of nearly 900 schoolchildren as floods hit the area on Friday.

At around 9 am, Ahmad noticed that the nearby stream was about to overflow due to heavy rains. Without wasting a moment, he ordered the immediate evacuation of all students and staff. Within 15 minutes, the school was empty.
Just minutes later, floodwaters smashed into the building, sweeping away classrooms, boundary walls and the playground.
Local councillor Sarwar Khan said the principal’s quick action prevented a major tragedy. “He saved 900 lives,” he noted.
This school is among dozens of educational institutions destroyed by recent floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where more than 350 people have died in the past three days.
Ahmad, who has been principal for 12 years, said the same building was destroyed in the 1995 floods. “That memory helped me act quickly this time,” he said.
