KARACHI, The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Wednesday announced the long-awaited Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part II results for both Science and General groups, formally closing the academic chapter of the city’s latest matriculation batch.

It is fast becoming an unfortunate custom that students receive their results only after they have already been forced to choose their streams. Just like last year, this year’s announcement has come after admissions to Class XI and intermediate colleges have been completed. The choice between Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, Computer Science, Commerce, or Humanities was made on the basis of SSC Part I (Class 9) results, and regular college classes are already in progress.

The SSC Part II results hold weight merely as the final, consolidated record of a student’s matriculation performance. They will be essential for academic transcripts, scholarship eligibility, and future applications to competitive institutions.

Students can check their results through the BSEK website, via SMS, or by consulting the official gazette. This multi-platform system ensures accessibility for all, including those with limited internet access.

For those underperforming, the results highlight areas for improvement as they move into the more demanding intermediate curriculum.

Historical trends suggest that overall pass percentages in Karachi’s SSC exams have hovered above 80%, with thousands achieving top grades. While BSEK has yet to release the full statistical breakdown for 2025, last year’s data showed over 23,000 students achieving an A-1 grade in the Science group alone.

Education experts note that relying on SSC Part I results for admissions changes the pressure dynamics for students. “It may reduce stress during the final year, but it also means consistent performance from Class 9 onwards becomes crucial,” remarked an education consultant.
